Pirates!

I has been a while since I have posted any thing so I thought I should keep it up to date. I have been work at Aardman Feature in bristol since December 2009 on The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists… A delicious confection of piracy on the high seas. Aardman co-founder Peter Lord returns to hands-on directing for the first time since 'Chicken Run', with a comedy adventure based on two books from the cult 'Pirates!' series by Gideon Defoe who has also penned the screenplay. 'Pirates!' will be co-directed by Jeff Newitt.

This is a shot of my end of year project. I sculpted this out of plasticine, then made a mold of it and cast the figure in resin, finally painting over the top.

This set is almost done, I just need to add a lamp post and a fire hydrant; I also plan to put a paper store in the space between the two buildings. I want to put curtains up in the windows too and then I'm finished.
Ellen made a car to drive into the shot, so I might to need to extent the road.
Here is the other building on the set I've done which will be a liquor store. I made the path out of foam, carving lines in to it and painting it gray.
This is the almost finished first building, I used foam for the windows and put up a uneven drain pipe to give it a run down look. The bricks are painted on with a sponge, the door is hand cut and sanded down.
This is a picture of the finished staircase. I painted it gray and the used a air brush to give it the uneven colouring.
Here you can see the cracks in the undercoat of the stone staircase, I was going for a old concrete look.
Then I coated the stairs with clay so that it would dry and become cracked. This is because I wanted to create an old worn down look.
This is the beginning stage of a a set of stairs that go up to the block of flats I am building for Matt and Nick. They are constructed out of foam.

Pin board and plugs.
This is a chair I made out of balsa wood, staining it and using the air brushed to age it.
A table I made for an office I was building for Matt.

Here's a puppet I made, he has removeble legs, arms, and head. Latex shoes and super skalpy head.

"Sad Monkey, he got his banana run over." Another second year project.

"Rasta scarecrow". Second year project.
Here is the blunderbuss I designed and made for a Matt Pollocks animation. I sculpted a rough model out of plasticine then carved the handle out of wood. I then sculpted a coke can for the barrel. The other metal used is copper wire that I hammered flat to make the shape on the side.

A animation I chose to do to a 10 second audio clip.

Here are some prop's I made for a student Matt Pollock. A collaborative project I did in my second year at Glamorgan University '08. I built the leather chair, picture fame, gun and the grandfather clock.

Matt Pollock went on to win a 'Glammy award' for best stop motion.
